More than 25,000 people are expected to log on and participate in the inaugural Victorian Caravan and Camping Virtual Show, which kicks off tomorrow (September 30) and runs until Octpber 4.
Organised by Caravan Industry Victoria, which has been forced to cancel a number of outdoor shows this year due to COVID-19, the five-day online trade show is being touted as a "one stop virtual shop" and will feature around 150 exhibitors including RV manufacturers and dealers, accessory suppliers, tourism bodies and caravan parks.
Although Australia's biggest manufacturer Jayco is not on the exhibitor list. stay-at-home show-goers will be able to interact online with representatives from other major caravan and camper brands including Avan, Avida, Concept, Crusader, New Age, Lotus, and MDC.
Visitors will be able to enter virtual exhibition halls and online chat rooms to connect directly with salespeople while an online 'auditorium' will feature live and on-demand product and tourism video presentations.
Each exhibitor is also required to have a 'show special' deal of some sort, while a 'Passport to Freedom' style competition will see prizes handed out to punters who generate the most points via interactions with exhibitors.
“With many people suffering from lockdown fatigue and the restrictions placed on our industry, this virtual show will provide consumers and industry with a safe and easy to use digital platform where they can engage – just like one of our annual shows," said Caravan Industry Victoria CEO Rob Lucas.
"Consumers liaise directly with exhibitors through live chats, video calls and can watch demonstrations along with collecting product brochures.’
