Another top-notch Aussie-built off-grid box camper has hit the market, with Offroad Grit RV recently unveiling its latest drag-anywhere Explorer LST single axle, compact hybrid hardbody trailer.
"With a tough three tonne ATM, a tare of 1800kg and an 11-foot footprint, it's designed to follow your 4WD anywhere, without compromise," the three-year old Queensland custom caravan builder says on its website.
With introductory pricing from $109,900, the new Off Grit Explorer LST two-berth camper is built for the rough stuff and comes loaded up with above-average off-road, off-grid and comfort features for its size, including a 600Ah lithium battery system with 3000W inverter and 1320W rooftop solar, 355L fresh water storage, Cruisemaster ATX airbag suspension, a Garmin digital switching electrical system with touchscreen and a heavy-duty rear winch.
"This combination puts it in a category above most pod campers, enabling long stays in remote areas without the constant need for resupply," the manufacturer says.
The hardcore box camper is constructed using a hot dipped galvanised chassis with a protective coating, fibreglass sandwich panels for the walls and roof, a one piece fibreglass composite floor, along with some Raptor body protection and a rear spoiler.
Other top-shelf components include a Cruisemaster DO-35 coupling, Method wheels and Yokahama mud tyres, disc brakes, a gullwing toolbox, Stedi underbody lights, a 180 degree awning, and an outdoor shower tent and portable composting toilet.
Also included as standard is a diesel hot water and space heater, an air compressor with tank, and an external kitchen with a sink and portable induction cooktop, while inside you get a ducted air conditioner, two 12V fans, a 130L fridge, microwave, east-west queen bed, storage cupboards and a vanity with oval sink.
The camper also has integrated roof rails so you can carry a tinny or mount a rooftop tent.
Offroad Grit RV is also offering a cheaper Explorer base model with a few less features, currently priced from $85,800.
Offroad Grit was started in 2022 by a boatbuilder with more than 20 years’ experience in the marine industry, and specialises in premium full composite custom-built caravans, manufactured at its Caboolture, Queensland facility.
