Nova Caravans helps Tango liquidation victim

Generous Melbourne manufacturer gifts free caravan to family left in the lurch after dealer collapse

In some good news following the recent Tango Caravans liquidation, Melbourne's Nova Caravans has offered to provide a brand new caravan for free to one of the more unfortunate victims of the dealer collapse.

After eight years of operation, Victoria based Tango Caravans was wound up in August, leaving a number of customers significantly out of pocket, after either paying a substantial deposit or the full amount without receiving the caravan they ordered.

One of the victims Sylwia Logan, who has set up the Tango Caravan Owners & Victims Group on Facebook, told GoRV she lost around $74,000 (not including bank interest on a loan), after paying for a Tango caravan she has yet to receive.

"We were supposed to receive the caravan in March, and in May we were told the caravan was ready to pick up in two to three weeks' time. We were told we have to pay the remaining fees which we did," she explained.

"We were really excited, booking many holidays ahead, told the kids the caravan is arriving, we're back caravanning again, and we never received the caravan... In July, we were told Tango Caravans went into liquidation and we lost all the money, and were unlikely to receive it back, and no caravan."

New Nova Revivor range was launched at Melbourne Leisurefest

After hearing of Sylwia's plight, Nova Caravans' owners Robert and Louise Cataldo were so moved that they decided to build a new caravan for Sylwia and her family, free of charge.

Sylwia said the offer was "incredibly generous" and she hopes it inspires other manufacturers and industry representatives to either donate or help out in some way, the other Tango victims.

The free caravan will be a custom-built 651 family bunk version of Nova's latest Revivor Limited Edition range of touring vans, launched recently at the Melbourne Leisurefest show. Like other Nova vans it boasts 'timberless' fibreglass sandwich panel construction, along with plenty of comfort features including a separate shower and toilet, rooftop air-conditioner, two 105Ah batteries and 340W rooftop solar, and 190 litres' fresh water capacity.

The new affordably-priced Revivor model range kicks off with the 17ft 8in Nova Revivor Limited Edition 544, with one currently available for immediate delivery at Nova's Victoria dealership, priced at $68,990 driveaway.

Established in 2006, Nova Caravans is a multiple 'manufacturer of the year' award winner, and also builds Emu RV campervans along with an all-electric Terra Sportz off-grid model at its Campbellfield, Victoria factory.

It's not the first time a Melbourne caravan manufacturer has come to the rescue of a 'burnt' buyer, with Lotus Caravans in 2019 supplying a free Trooper van to a couple who lost their life savings after a dealer went under. Jayco also once gave a caravan to a sick pensioner after thieves stole the old van he was living in.
