Tough no frills bush camper arrives

New dirt-cheap, entry-level Kings MT2 off-road base trailer priced from $13,995

The 4WD Supacentre has added a more compact and lighter, entry-level bush trailer to its growing range of affordable tent trailers.

The new dirt-cheap Kings MT2 off-road base trailer sits under the slightly larger MT1 introduced in late-2020 and, like its bigger brother, is aimed at hardcore adventurers on a budget.

The cut-price off-road accessories retailer says more than 1500 MT1 trailers have been sold over the past two years, and the latest MT2 model was designed after feedback from owners and potential buyers of the MT1.

4WD Supacentre has released a lighter, more compact version of the MT1, called the MT2

Described as a more 'streamlined' version of the MT1, the new MT2 trailer is constructed with a 150mm x 50mm x 3.5mm hot-dipped galvanised steel chassis and coated steel body panels, and rides on an independent twin-shock coil-spring suspension with 16in steel wheels with mud tyres, a removable jockey wheel and Cruisemaster DO-35 coupling.

Other standard features include an underslung 78-litre fresh water tank with electric pump, 98Ah AGM battery, an electric control panel, LED lighting, awning mounts, and holders for two jerries and two 4.5kg gas bottles.

There's less storage space than the MT1 in the MT2's two separate, fully enclosed compartments that are accessed externally, with the option to add various pantries and slide-outs for carrying an optional fridge, oven, or other camping gear.

A number of extra-cost option packs are available, which can include various items like cross bars, a 270-degree awning, and a rooftop tent, as well as other 12V power items like a DC-DC charger, inverter, solar panels, or a lithium battery.

You'll probably pay $20,000-plus for an optioned-up Kings MT2 camper like this...

The Kings MT2 is 3590mm long overall, 1880mm wide and 1952mm high to the top of awning mounts, with a Tare weight of around 980kg, ball weight (when fully loaded) of about 180kg and an ATM of 1800kg.

It promises exceptional off-roadability with the 4WD Supacentre highlighting its 34-degree rear departure angle.

Buyers can add optional camping accessories like a fridge, bush oven and food pantry

The second 'MT' base trailer adds to the 4WD Supacentre's growing range of budget-priced campers, which include four different hard-floor camper trailers from the Black Series Campers range.

Pricing for the Kings MT2 trailer starts at $13,995, or $3000 less than the MT1 MK2 model, with first deliveries expected in early November.
