In a left-field response to the working-from-home and remote-working themes of 2020, Nissan has come up with a 'working-from-anywhere' concept van that features an 'office pod' that slides out from the rear for office workers on the run.
The Caravan NV350 Office Pod concept revealed at the virtual Tokyo Auto Salon is based on Nissan's NV350 load-lugger and features a smartphone-controlled retractable workspace that fits snugly under the raised rear tailgate.
There's room for an office chair and enough desk space for a computer and, like any good office space, some electrical sockets to plug in mobile devices or a coffee pod machine for 'refuelling'.
If you need a break, there's a ladder to climb up on the roof where you can stretch out on the sun lounge under a big umbrella (we're not sure what happens to these when driving!).
Other nifty features include an electric internal window shade, and a glove box fitted with a UV antibacterial lamp to keep items sanitized during the pandemic. There's also a transparent panel on the floor of the 'office' so you can see what's going on underneath without getting your nice shoes dirty...
With no built-in kitchen facilities, toilet/shower, bedding or other camping essentials, the Nissan NV350 'office pod' concept can't really be classified as a campervan -- more a 21st century work van, perhaps...
