•6 Sept 2022Dreaming of a trip to the Cape? Or maybe through the Flinders Ranges, where Far North Queensland’s coastal delights are replaced by rocky beauty and rich geological history?
Whichever you choose, you need the right vehicle and take it as read — not all SUVs are created equal. Some are designed to go off-road, most are not.
The Next-Gen Ford Everest is definitely the former, built from the ground up to help you venture to remote parts of Australia as easily as other SUVs take on the school run.
The Next-Gen Ford Everest easily straddles the requirements of city and country. It continues its impressive lineage, designed to tackle every kilometre of Australian terrain -- from day to day use in the suburbs to the mountains, the tropics and the wilds of the 10 deserts that dominate the Red Centre.
And it’s not just created for Australia – the Next-Gen Everest was created in Australia, with engineering and design work done locally. This means every part of the vehicle from the suspension, to the drivetrain and on to the body and interior have been optimised for everything from the Nullarbor to the Kimberley.

The Next-Gen Ford Everest includes Trend, Sport and Platinum 4x4 models and is infused with the latest innovations and technology to make off-road adventuring that little bit easier.
Smartphone connectivity connects wirelessly — for compatible Apple and Android devices —allowing you to display your favourite apps on a massive touchscreen. It could be something as broad as Spotify to get the clan bopping as you hit the road.
It’s all there and easily customisable on the portrait-oriented screen.
The Next-Gen Everest’s selectable drive modes* can tailor everything from the throttle response and gear shifts to the braking performance to different surfaces and conditions. Modes include Sand and Mud/Ruts, perfectly optimising the Everest’s various off-road systems.

Other features such as rear electronic differential lock and even sturdy recovery hooks make this extremely capable four-wheel drive even more purposeful.
All of this add up to extra off-road capability, allowing you to explore lesser-travelled tracks with confidence.
Of course, this doesn’t mean you can ignore the basics. There are still benefits to lowering tyre pressures when driving on sand, for example. And although the Everest can traverse water up to 800mm deep**, you need to plan appropriately.
When things get really challenging, the central touchscreen plays a pivotal role.
Standard on Everest Platinum and optional on Everest Trend 4x4 and Sport models, Ford’s 360-degree camera can be used to provide forward vision and predictive overlay guidelines to effectively peer over steep hills or navigate obstacles you may not see from the driver’s seat.

The Everest even has you covered once you roll up to your campsite. Zone lighting*** uses LEDs placed around the car to individually light each side of the vehicle for a set period via the touchscreen or FordPass**** Connect app. Perfect for fire-side drinks at the end of a long day.
In designing the Everest for Australian conditions, Ford engineers haven’t overlooked the fundamentals. A solid 50mm increase in Next-Gen Everest’s track helps deliver a more controlled ride on-road, while tweaks to damper settings allowed the team to inject more ‘fun’ and control into the way Everest rides — both on and off-road..
And there’s never a shortage of grunt, with a 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel designed to perform.
Those who want a bit more can choose the Sport and Platinum models, which come with Ford’s new 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine. With 184kW and 600Nm it makes light work of hills, sand and whatever else you plan to throw at what is a highly accomplished off-roader.
It all adds up to mean the only limit to your Next-Gen Ford Everest adventure is your imagination.
