Queensland is already home to some of Australia’s best slide-ons, from the likes of Travelander, Trayon and soon-to-be Patriot Campers.
But now you can add another top-notch trayback camper from the Sunshine State to the list, with Toowoomba-based System Campers recently releasing its first aluminium slide-on model.
System Campers is the brainchild of Darren Cardiff who runs Pritab, a previously ISO-accredited manufacturer of mobile accommodation for the mining industry. With the recent downturn in the mining sector Cardiff, a camping and fishing enthusiast has turned his attention to building a premium new product for the booming RV industry.
The System slide-on has a number of clever features, including a two-level, external slide-out kitchen with collapsible sink, Weber BBQ, gas cooker and drawers, and a “pigeon pair” of 95 litre Engel upright fridge/freezers located in a separate compartment.
A panel at the rear folds down to form a table for four people, while a slide-out hard roof with a floor mat stored in the lining and drop-down curtains creates a private area when using the outside shower.
There's also fold-out ‘Eagle wing’ awning that covers a massive 64 square metres of outside area.
Other dedicated compartments are designed for a portaloo, pantry and dry storage areas and the 12V system which connects the two 120Ah batteries to roof-top solar panels.
The freshwater system includes an inbuilt 120 litre tank, 12V water pump and 10 litre hot water service.
The main body is constructed from aluminium sandwich panels and with four remote-controlled legs, single person set-up takes just three minutes, according to Cardiff.
Sleeping is on a roof-top, queen size inner spring mattress, accessed by ladder and protected by a side-hinged, canvas-walled roof that pushes up for overnight stops. Kids can also be accomodated in a separate annexe.
The camper is designed specifically for dual-cab utes and thanks to its modular construction, can be easily customised to suit individual requirements.
Pricing starts at $10,000 for a basic canopy, with the full ‘bells and whistles’ camper setting you back around $36,000.
The System Campers slide-on will be on display at the Queensland Caravan Camping & Touring Holiday Show at the Brisbane Showgrounds (June 8-13). For further details, watch the video below or visit the company website.
