Just because you head off on holiday for a few weeks, or months, and visit some remote places, doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to enjoy a few comforts from home, like surround-sound movie nights and watching the big game live on the big screen.
Most caravans these days come standard with some sort of TV; usually a 24in Smart TV, but sometimes a much bigger screen, and in some cases more than one...

But now we could be seeing the start of a new trend in the Aussie RV industry: in-built TV projectors with motorised projector screens that deliver a 'pop-up' Gold Class movie experience in your 'van, any time you please...
The latest example is this 22ft 6in East West QB Projection Screen layout, now available on a few JB Caravans' tandem-axle models including up-spec Scorpion and Dirt Roader 'vans.
As the layout name suggests, the new JB floorplan combines the usual central kitchen and lounge/dinette and full width rear ensuite, with a large motorhome-style front bedroom including front wall storage and walk-around, east-west queen bed.

To watch the latest Hollywood movie or AFL blockbuster from the comfort of bed, simply flip open the overhead cupboard to reveal the Viewsonic PX701-4K home projector, before hitting the remote to roll down the motorised screen located behind a window pelmet on the wall opposite.
The screen size is the equivalent of 60in (1270mm x 710mm), so should be in your face when lounging back on the bed from around two metres' away, while the included sound bar will add to the audio-visual feast.

We asked JB Caravans' marketing manager Wayne Coleman how it all worked...
"There is no TV input in the projector," he said.
"It uses a Google TV 4k Streamer via W-Fi to play videos from streaming services, and web based live TV is also accessible. We also supply a separate 24in TV with the standard aerial," he said, presumably to take outside and plug into the side of the 'van when you get the urge on balmier nights.

Boasting a "hyper-responsive 240Hz refresh rate", the Viewsonic 4K projector could also be a good option for some adrenaline-pumping on-the-road gaming.
With Starlink 'pass through' also standard on the JB up-spec 'vans available with this layout, and a minimum Ecoflow 4kW on-board power system with invertor, you'll want to pack plenty of popcorn and refreshments for the late-night movie marathons in the middle of nowhere...

Up until now, big screens normally mean big-dollar caravans, like for example Snowy River's one-off Van Cave or the limited-build Kokoda Counterstrike Vincere.
The cheapest JB with the option of the 22ft 6in Projection Screen floorplan is the semi off-road Dirt Road Extreme which starts at $127,400. But with this sort of technology getting more affordable by the day, don't be surprised to see projector systems fitted to entry-level Aussie vans in the not too distant future...
