New product: Knog Bandicoot

New silicone LED headlamp weighs just 60 grams

Fresh off an Australian Design Award, Outdoor adventure gear specialist Knog is about to release to the market the world's first lightweight silicone headlamp.

Designed for people who don't like the feel or weight of traditional and often bulky outdoor headlamps, the new Knog Bandicoot headlamp incorporates the lights and battery into a slim, one-piece silicone strap that weighs just 60g in total.

New Knog Bandicoot turns humble headlamp into a fashion accessory

According to Knog, the silicone band won't tangle with your hair nor lose strength, and won't need constant adjusting. A variety of colours are available including black, orange, green, blue, and red.

Delivering a maximum output of 100 lumens, the four sets of LED lights deliver a variety of beams  – a high beam to see with, elliptical beams for broad ambient light, a red light for darker environments and down lights for reading. Other light programs are also available via a smartphone app.

The Knog Bandicoot headlamp recharges via a USB cord and will be available from mid-August from various outlets including here. Recommended pricing is $59.99.
