New product: Hummingbird trailer odometer

Keep track of your caravan's mileage with new GPS trailer odometer

It's easy to keep track of how far your tow vehicle has travelled, thanks to trip computers and odometers fitted as standard on most cars, but what about the caravan or camper trailer you're towing behind?

Well, now you can do it automatically with NSW-based Hummingbird Electronics releasing a new GPS Trailer Odometer that mounts permanently to any trailer, to record distances travelled.

Hummingbird says the trailer odometer is an accurate and convenient way to maintain a log of distances travelled, and make it easier to schedule routine servicing and therefore prolong the lifespan of the trailer.

The Hummingbird HMOD1000 odometer comes with a standard GPS bulk head antenna and mounting bracket, as well as an easy-to-read colour screen that indicates when a service interval has been reached.

Service intervals can be set to a specified date or distance travelled, after which a warning buzzer sounds. Individual trips can also be recorded via a Trip A or B function.

The GPS Trailer Odometer is designed and manufactured in Australia and has a RRP of $299. Installation is additional, and requires wiring it to a power source.
