Hot on the heels of last year’s release of a Hyland hitch ‘tribute’, AL-KO is introducing another off-road coupling option at this week’s Victorian Caravan Supershow, this time with a hands-free, self-locking system.
Taking inspiration from the innovative Hitch-Ezy as well as Vehicle Components' Hitchmaster series, the new Off-Road Pin Coupling automatically completes “the primary and secondary locking required for ADR compliance, with no additional action required by the user", according to AL-KO.
"The result is hands free hitching, making it safer and easier to use than other pin couplings on the market,” the company said.
After lowing the coupling over the pin, an integrated positive latching indicator confirms when the coupling has clicked and locked into place.
Other features include a unique forged yoke that allows maximum articulation on both horizontal and vertical planes, up to 3500kg ATM, while a built-in cover protects the coupling from the elements.
AL-KO claims the product has the lowest profile of any pin coupling on the market at 83mm, making it suitable for tow vehicles with barn doors.
The new Click Lock system was designed by AL-KO in Melbourne for Australian off-road conditions and tested at the Australian Automotive Research Centre in Anglesea.
