New pricey range-topper for Toyota Prado

Toyota Australia has announced the release of the Toyota Prado Kakadu Horizon special-edition, which becomes the most expensive variant in the SUV line-up.

Priced from $89,590 before on-road costs, the new Prado variant follows in the footsteps of its larger sibling, the 200 Series LandCruiser Sahara Horizon revealed last month and is almost as expensive as the 200 Series LandCruiser GXL.

Based on the range-topping Toyota Prado Kakadu, the limited-edition Horizon brings with it a bunch of extra equipment, including chrome side mouldings and mirror covers, clear-lens tail-lights, a front bumper spoiler and spats for the rear bumper.

It also get ‘Horizon’ badging and a metallic/pearl paint job on the outside, while interior goodies include two rear USBs and illuminated kick panels for the driver and passenger.

Standard features include Toyota’s Safety Sense Suite (lane departure warning, auto high-beam, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert), as well as leather seating with heating and cooling up front, three-zone climate control, a JBL audio system and a rear DVD entertainment system.

There are no mechanical changes for the Toyota Prado Kakadu Horizon, meaning it carries over the Japanese brand’s 130kW/450Nm 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel and six-speed automatic. Towing capacity remains at 3000kg, with a maximum 300kg on the tow ball.
