New model blitz for Adelaide show

A raft of new models and accessories will be unveiled at the South Australian Caravan and Camping Outdoor Adventure Show, the first major event on the 2011 RV show calendar.

The show’s organiser, the Caravan and Camping Industries Association of SA (CCIA SA), is expecting a big turnout of more than 40,000 to attend this year’s show, to be held from February 23-27 at the Adelaide Showgrounds in Wayville.

Amongst the manufacturers and dealers debuting new models is Adventura Caravans, which has five new vans planned for the Adelaide show. Attracting plenty of interest should be the 5.5m (18ft) Outlander offroad van which, with an expected tare of 3000kg and price tag of around $140,000, is described as a “really big, tough rig (capable of) rivers crossings of up to nearly one metre”.

Adventura is also displaying two new Indulgence vans with mid or rear ensuites, the rear bunk Entice, and the range-topping Radiance with front, leather-lined interior.

Adventure Offroad Campers is planning to launch its new dual-cab slide-on camper, aimed at younger families as well as older travellers wanting to take the grandkids away.

Jayco will have its usual large show presence; expect around 80 Jayco vans on display, including the new 2011 camper trailer range. The campers sport a new shape as well as remodelled interior  including different decor and colours, new alloy wheels and optional slide-out barbeque and solar panels.

Jayco’s Starcraft range with four new layouts as well as new additions like a tunnel boot will also be on display.

A’Van, manufacturer of the innovative A-shape folding camper, will also be out in force with around 50 vans and motorhomes on display. A’van is rolling out  new interiors on its latest models including new soft furnishings and laminex finishes as well as leather interiors and marble benchtops on some models.

Citywest Caravans will have a special version of the Jurgens Lunagazer to tempt showgoers. The 6.3m (20ft 6in) 2405 model features a larger lounge and more rear space, and will be available at the show for $62,000.

One of SA’s biggest dealers, Dave Benson, will have up to 70 vans on display, including two new models from Concept: the luxurious, feature-packed Europa van and 17ft Blitz camper with two fold-out beds, shower and toilet.

Dave Benson will also display new Belmont and Newlands vans from Concept, as well as a new Goldstream camper with shower and toilet.

Maytown Caravan will unveil a new range of Nova Pride vans, including the new 7m (23ft) Pride featuring new fittings, innovative circular mirror for the rear ensuite and new coloured cladding.

South Australians will also get their first look at the new Melbourne-manufactured River Caravans at the Mike Griggs Caravan Centre display. The first of four models, the Brema has an internal length of 4.9m (16ft), 1860kg tare and 2100kg ATM, and will be available at the show for less than $50,000.

Noel’s Caravans will have some new offerings, including the 23ft mid-ensuite Globetrotter Goldcoaster van, and the custom-built 5.2m (17ft) or 5.8m (19ft) rear-ensuite vans from Riverside Caravans.

Twilight Caravans will display Supreme Caravans’ new Series 2 range which feature new, lightweight 3mm ply construction and light fabric interior. The new 4.7m (15ft 6in) Supreme Aero with shower/toilet combo and 1600kg tare will also be on display.

Along with new RV models the Adelaide show will also feature a range of new accessories from local manufacturers.

A1 Caravans will introduce the JLSN Towing Load Indicator which fits to most 50mm trailer couplings and provides a ball weight measurement, as well as a range of locks from Lock Alarm that sound an alarm of up to 120dB if disturbed or cut.

Cara Rest Supplies will display its new Aussie Van Easy Tune Antenna, a fully digital unit that rotates 360 degrees for optimum reception, while Happy
Wanderer will have a new caravan vent hatch cover priced at less than $30.
