Big-selling Epping, Victoria based caravan manufacturer Crusader will move to a new purpose-built production and distribution centre to cope with growing demand for its six-model range of full height and compact caravans.
Crusader said the new 15,010sqm facility located at the new 4Ten Epping industrial estate in Melbourne’s north "will feature sustainable design elements, a high clearance warehouse space, a state-of-the-art office, recessed loading docks and on-grade rolling doors".
The new factory address at 410 Cooper St, Epping, is just over 4km from Crusader's current production facility at 8 Dream Haven Ct, located in the same suburb.
Crusader Caravans managing director Serge Valentino said the new facility is expected to be up and running by February 2022 and will effectively double production capacity of the 20-year-old caravan manufacturer.
"With sales levels continuously on the rise, the new facility will enable us to scale up significantly and further extend our leadership in manufacturing excellence," Valentino said.
“We have experienced record sales, with production at our current production site in Epping increasing by 50 per cent year-on-year and set to continue at a rapid rate."
He said the recent surge in sales was due to "unprecedented online demand" for Crusader caravans, including the latest CRV compact caravan which was launched late last year.
Crusader said it partnered with specialist property and supply chain firm TMX to source the new site and secure a 10-year lease term.
Founded by former caravan plumber Serge Valentino, Crusader started off building caravans under the Dreamhaven name in 2001 and now employs more than 100 staff and sells its vans through a nationwide dealer network.
After being placed into voluntary administration in 2016, advisory, capital raising and investment management firm Mawson Group was enlisted to help reduce overheads, introduce 'lean manufacturing' and boost production in the restructured operation.
