New luxury motorhome for just $50!

NSW dealer raffles $152,000 Avida motorhome to assist accident victim
When Ron Warden heard about the terrible misfortune of Damian Jobson, who became a quadriplegic after an accident while playing in his son Callan’s football team, he knew he had to do something to help.
Warden is the dealer principal of Bennetts Green, NSW-based dealer, Australian Motor Homes & Caravans, which sells Avida, Sunliner, Colorado and Royal flair caravans and motorhomes, and decided to raffle a new Avida motorhome to raise funds for Jobson’s rehabilitation, and help his wife Brooke and two young children.
While the initial idea was to just “raffle it and raise heaps”, it’s since become an all-consuming task for Ron, who spent three months registering the charity “Rise for Damian” and now heads out each week-end in the motorhome with his wife Tina to sell tickets directly to the public.
While initially hoping to sell up to 200,000 tickets, the number so far is around 4000, which Warden reckons makes great odds for anyone hoping to win the Avida Birdsville ((C 7424 SL model), valued at $152,000 drive-away.
The 7.39m long, four-berth motorhome is powered by a Fiat Ducato 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and features a huge slide-out for the queen bed and dinette/lounge, with another double bed in the Luton Peak, a well-equipped kitchen and separate shower and toilet also included in the floorplan.
Able to be driven on a standard car licence, it’s packed with features including a roof-top air-conditioner, 190 litre fridge, awning, electric entry step and fresh and black water storage tanks.
The local Harvey Norman store has stumped up a $15,000 gift voucher for the second prize, while a Hello World Cruise voucher valued at $4000 is third prize.
“It’s the simple things that we take for granted that’s a whole new challenge for Damian,” explained Brooke. “Things like not being able to brush his own teeth, being able to shave or even to eat a simple meal.
“Another hard thing about life is just not being able to pack up and go away for a family weekend away camping the way that we used to, it’s just not possible.
“We used to love taking the kids away camping in the camper trailer visiting the beaches, but not anymore.”
The charity raffle will be drawn on September 21 during a telecast of the NSW Footy Show on Channel 9. Tickets cost $50 each through the Rise for Damian website.
