Cut-price off-road accessories retailer, the 4WD Supacentre has joined major Chinese camper brand MDC in offering a dirt-cheap, lightweight off-road bush trailer aimed at hardcore adventurers on a budget.
Like the imported MDC Mod Box, the new Adventure Kings MT1 trailer boasts a simple multi-function modular design and large storage capabilities in an affordable, no-frills package.
The 4WD Supacentre says the entry-level MT1 box camper is "designed and engineered in Australia", boasts an Australian Registered Design, and has clocked up more than 20,000km of 'real world' off-road testing in pre-production form.
Priced from just $11,995, the bare-boned base model is a blank canvas with doors on three sides that open to reveal a large empty storage cavity for carrying camping gear or tools, with a claimed 3700 litres of storage space and payload capacity of up to 630kg.
There's another storage compartment or toolbox on the drawbar, flanked by holders for a 9kg gas bottle and two 20L jerry cans, plus a swing-away rear arm for the spare tyre.
The chassis is made from 150mm x 50mm x 3.5mm RHS hot dipped galvanised steel, with body panels constructed from "laser cut and CNC pressed 2mm thick, powdercoated 5052 aluminium sheet".
Other standard features include independent trailing arm coil suspension with twin shocks per wheel, 10in electric drum brakes, 31in mud tyres on 16x8 alloy wheels, an AL-KO removable jockey wheel, and a choice of ARK or Cruisemaster off-road coupling.
Also part of the basic package is a 100 litre freshwater tank, 100Ah battery and LED lighting, "with space to fit up to 2 x 138Ah batteries, DC chargers, inverters plus more!" according to the 4WD Supacentre.
The Adventure Kings MT1 is being promoted as a work or play trailer that's highly customisable, with optional extruded aluminium roof rails available to fit a range of roof bars for mounting a roof-top tent.
It also boasts a 32.4 degrees departure angle and checkerplate underbody protection for more extreme off-road driving.
"Whether it’s for weekends away with your mates, family adventures or even as a work trailer during the week – the MT1 can do it all," the 4WD Supacentre said.
The Kings MT1 is designed to be loaded up or fitted with various aftermarket accessories including an awning, additional batteries, inverter, swag, tent or fridge/freezer, all of which are available from the 4WD Supacentre catalogue if buyers don't already have them.
Options available specifically for the MT1 include a pull-out fridge slide ($349) or combination stainless kitchen with plumbed tap and fridge slide ($899), a pantry with drop-down stainless steel benchtop ($720), rear drawer with dividers ($1004) and a roof cross bar kit ($497).
The base trailer weighs 870kg (Tare), with a ball weight of 150kg and 1500kg ATM. The trailer measures 4060mm long overall, 1890mm wide, and 1950mm tall (without a tent).
