Jayco has rolled out the first example of a new range of Discovery pop-top caravans, which will join new hardtop 'Jayco 50' Discovery caravan models as the Australian RV giant gets ready to celebrate half a century of manufacturing in 2025.
Fresh off the production line and destined for Jayco's Bundaberg dealer, the new single-axle Jayco Discovery 16.67-5 pop-top is one of 12 new Discovery pop-top layouts available, and features a walk-around front double bed, central kitchen and dinette, and a full width rear ensuite.
Featuring a new Dune exterior colour, the new 24-variant Discovery pop-top and caravan range replaces the Journey range for 2025, and boasts more than 30 updates and improvements across the mid-spec range of touring and Outback models. Body lengths span 16ft to 22ft, with both couple and family bunk layouts available, as well as two slide-out options.
As well as the new 'desert sand' hero colour, all MY25 Discovery 'golden anniversary' models stand out with a new Silverline-style black rear mould with smoked black taillights, a shiny black front window cover and black front mould with gas bottle cover, black alloy wheels and a new side-mounted gas bayonet.
Construction-wise, the new Discovery range also benefits from fewer timber materials used, with the addition of a PET composite floor and one-piece fibreglass interior walls and ceiling.
All Discovery pop-tops have been made the same height, with the higher side walls contributing to more interior room and storage space than before, while other standard features across the Discovery range include a wireless reversing camera, Suburban continuous hot water unit, Dometic 150L compressor fridge, a stereo unit with internal and external speakers, a 24in Smart TV with soundbar, and a Cloud 9 pillowtop mattress.
Internally, there's a bigger square sink in the kitchen and a new ceramic bowl sink in the bathroom, along with a new Euro-style cabinet design and new hardware including larger gun metal handles and new positive fixing, ball-bearing drawer runners.
The standard off-grid power set-up has been boosted with a 100Ah lithium battery and 200W rooftop solar set-up, along with a Projecta 30A DC-DC charger and 4in control panel, while all Discovery models will come 'Starlink Mini Ready', with an external 100W socket.
Keeping up with the latest trends, there's also fresh colour and decor options for internal finishes and soft furnishings, including the Reed Green and Braun cabinet fascias seen on the 21ft Discovery display van.
Jayco National Touring Sales Manager Chris Hooper said that with quite a few of the more desirable options now fitted as standard, there are some minor price increases across the range, although the new models are still competitively priced compared to rivals' offerings.
"This particular Discovery product has never been so feature laden as it is for 2025," he said.
MY25 Discovery Pop-top, RRP pricing ranges from $55,990 to $67,790, while MY25 Discovery hardtop caravans are priced from $78,990 to $92,990.
He said the numerous updates also demonstrated that Jayco was not only responding to customer feedback, but adapting to changing buyers' tastes and industry trends.
"This is why we go to Dusseldorf (Caravan Salon) and we go to shows in the US, as it's not just local trends, we have to see what's coming globally to make sure that we're ahead of it."
"While this is a major update for the 50th anniversary there are so many things we're looking at down the track that need to be rolled out as that's where the market is going to go."
Other 'Jayco 50' model ranges are expected to be rolled out by early-2025, while further details on the new Discovery range should be available soon on the Jayco website.
