Jayco has added a new wind-out model to its compact camper trailer range, aimed at RV travellers who prefer to cook outside rather than in.
Unlike the five other models in Jayco's 2022 camper trailer line-up, the new two-berth Wren misses out on an internal kitchen with its gas cooktop and stainless sink with drainer and mixer tap.
Instead, there's an external slide-out kitchen similar to that you find on the smaller Jpod campers, complete with a twin gas burner cooktop and stainless sink with fold-down tap -- both with hinged glass lids to increase food prep space. There's also a fold down tray at the end of the kitchen for resting plates, drinks or other items.
Designed for couples and solo travellers, the internal layout is similar to the Jayco Penguin's, with an east-west double bed with coil spring mattress at one end and a three seat dinette with removable table at the other, and cabinetry along both sides with an in-built 90 litre three-way fridge like the other Jayco camper variants.
Moving the kitchen cooktop and sink outside also frees up room for more storage and benchtop space inside the camper.
Pricing starts at $25,190 for the Wren Touring model, with the Wren Bush Pack priced from $27,290. A Jayco Wren camper was displayed at last month's National 4x4 Outdoors Show in Melbourne, with examples already on display at some Jayco dealers, although the new model doesn't officially go on sale until October 2022.
The Wren Bush Pack camper (pictured) currently on display at Melbourne dealer Bayswater Jayco, is priced at $27,689 which includes an optional 100Ah battery.
It has a Tare weight of 947kg, ATM of 1362kg ATM and ball weight of 65kg, so is light enough to be towed by many smaller SUVs and sedans.
Bush Pack models get additional features including an underslung axle, drop-down jacks, mud flaps, 15in wheels and tyres, a larger jockey wheel and exterior checker plate protection.
The display model is also fitted with a 50mm ball coupling, gas bayonet, spare tyre, pull-out entry step and a gas bottle.
The Jayco Wren Bush Pack is set to go on display at the Melbourne Leisurefest show at Sandown Racecourse from October 6-9, along with the latest JPod X.
