Iveco has released limited details and some photos of its looming third-generation Daily, which will hit European markets in the middle of 2014 before arriving in Australia early next year.
The revamped van and cab/chassis models, which are produced at factories in Italy and Spain, retain their ladder frame chassis but boast a range of enhancements.
Iveco says the new van now has a more accessible cargo bed, improved handling and boosted carrying capacity.
Handling and manoeuvrability is enhanced through the Daily’s new design, says Iveco, which features elongated wheelbases and reduced rear overhang.
All Daily models up to 3500kg have new front suspension while a new rear suspension format on single-wheel-drive models reduces the height of the loading platform by 55mm, for easier loading and unloading.
The cabin is said to offer improved noise insulation, more efficient air-conditioning, and heightened comfort, while externally the new Daily benefits from refreshed styling.
Also good news for grey nomads is a claimed fuel consumption reduction of five per cent for the new Daily, which will be available with a range of engines, transmissions and axle ratios.
The Iveco Daily is used by most Australian motorhome manufacturers including Avida, Paradise and Sunliner, which claims around 70 per cent of the motorhomes it builds are based on the Iveco.
