New regulations and rapid changes in the Australian caravan industry have seen the recent retirement of some of its former pioneers and the emergence of new, tech-savvy managers.
Participants in the inaugural Caravan Industry Emerging Leaders program recently graduated from the Performance Edge course, which is part of the industry's Emerging Leaders program syllabus.
The course is designed to broaden participants' understanding of leadership and broaden their skills. Attendees are required to step outside their workplaces to gain experience in other spheres.
On the first day, participants gained significant insights from a range of community and business leaders including Victoria Police Detective Inspector Wayne Newman, Les Twentyman Foundation CEO Wayne Owens, Village Roadshow Managing Director Robert Kirby AO and Jo Carr and Peter Robinson from Advantage Caravan Repairs.
Day two was a complete day of residential learning.
Then, all participants embarked on a 10-session 'Performance Edge' leadership program focusing on the 'total person' and facilitated through the CIA Victoria's training partner Leadership Managent Australia (LMA).
In two months, participants will be inducted into the Caravan Industry Association of Australia Future Leaders Program – but only after they have completed a refocus workshop.
Those taking part in the program included Courtney Adams and Laura D'Urbano of the Caravan Trade & Industries Association of Victoria, James Field and Maddy Sawyer of the Caravan Industry Industry Association of Australia, Matthew Leonard of John Guest Pacific Ltd, Jared Pearson of Elite Caravans, Leon Pumpa of What's Up Downunder and Robert Roda of Nova Caravans.
