New hard Rock Avida family van
NSW’s Avida has unveiled its most off-road capable family caravan to dateA new Avida Rock 20ft off-road family caravan has been released at the Queensland Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, delivering a smooth new glossy look for the NSW manufacturer along with a number of other stand-out features.
While the new Rock model has the same fully insulated fibreglass sandwich panel floor, wall and roof construction as other Avida caravans, there are fewer joins with the front, roof and rear sections comprised of a one-piece panel for the first time.
There’s also metal under floor protection, side ‘brush’ bars and checker plate protection for the two, underslung water tanks.
The extended drawbar is equipped with a tap and external shower, Cruisemaster DO35 hitch, two 9kg gas bottles, a mesh stone shield and a large toolbox with slide-out fridge, to go with the slide-out external kitchen and full tunnel boot.
The 20ft Avida Rock rides high on a hot dipped galvanized chassis with Cruisemaster XT independent coil suspension, Dexter brakes and 16in alloy wheels with mud-terrain tyres.
The standard Tare weight is 2585kg and with an ATM of 3300kg, payload is an impressive 715kg. Fresh water carrying capacity is a generous 250 litres, along with 125 litres of grey water storage.
Other standard features include a 14 litre gas/electric hot water system, two 120Ah battery system with 300W solar panels and regulator, two-door compressor fridge, washing machine, electronic control panel, water filter, leather upholstery, air-conditioner, premium stereo, reverse camera, external work lights, two spare wheels, and a roll-out awning.
The Rock CV 6436 tandem axle family model is available with either two or three bunks at the rear, along with a separate shower and toilet, galley kitchen and L-shaped lounge/dinette, and an east/west queen bed at the front.
Other Rock layouts are available for couples, including single axle 16ft and tandem axle 20ft versions.
The Rock 20ft family van is priced from $88,490 drive-away, and comes with a three year factory warranty, five year structural warranty and two year roadside assistance.
