A decade after releasing its first off-road trailer, Hard Korr Campers has announced a new beefed-up 10th anniversary Xplorer 2.2E roof-tent camper "on steroids".

Priced from $51,990, the new Series 4 Xplorer 2.2E bush camper from the Queensland-based importer sports a fresh, front aero-box design with more storage compartments, plus a bigger standing platform and new handrail and improved lighting for the lower stairs, to make it both easier and safer to access the dual-lift rooftop tent.
Another big change is a new all-in-one 'power wall' located inside a driver's side locker, designed to make it easier to fault-find and service the electrical components, which include a Hardkorr 3000W inverter, 40A DC-DC charger, 40A AC charger, and 40A MPPT solar controller.

Also new is a CampSight 7+ smart manager with seven-inch touchscreen and smart phone app, and built-in rooftop tent ducting, platform and 48v plug for running an optional portable battery-powered air conditioner, for heating and cooling the tent space.
The 10th anniversary model also gets improved Xplorer block-out tent canvas, a new 15L continuous electric hot water system, and a Series 4 slide-out kitchen with 2800W induction cooktop, collapsible sink, hot and cold tap and a slide for an optional 96L fridge.
Other highlights include "class leading" 4000L internal storage space, a Vortex dust reduction system, 270 degree awning, external shower and swing-out ensuite, 210L fresh water storage, and a 628Ah lithium battery pack with 510W rooftop solar.

It's made with aluminium body panels with an "impact-resistant" electrocoated and hammertone finish, and a hot dipped galvanised chassis with independent coil suspension, DO-35 off-road coupling, and mud tyres including two spares.
Tare weight is listed at 1498kg, with an ATM of 2400kg and towball mass of approximately 155kg.

Like all Hard Korr campers, the flagship Series 4 Xplorer 2.2E bush camper is designed in Australia and manufactured in China.
Its nearest rival on price is probably the Australian built Patriot X1, as many camper importers move away from bare-boned roof tent trailers like the Xplorer, and focus on more comfortable hard-wall hybrids and pop-tops.
According to its website, Hard Korr currently has three Australian retail outlets, and backs its campers with a variety of warranties covering different components, ranging in length from 12 to 60 months.
