Big-selling Melbourne manufacturer Avan has further boosted its ever-growing range of Golf models, with the introduction of two new, fixed height caravans recently under the revived Tourer moniker.
Since taking over production of the previously Brisbane-built caravans almost 10 years ago, Avan has released a variety of mostly off-road oriented Golf models including camper trailers, pop-tops, expanders and mini toy haulers.
The new Tourer range is more conservatively styed than the sporty, streamlined Golf Savannah vans, and currently extends to two family-focused models: an 18ft Tourer 577 single axle van featuring an east-west parent’s bed plus three bunks, kitchen galley, café dinette and rear ensuite, and a 21ft Golf Tourer 650 tandem model with similar five-berth layout but a more parent-friendly north-south queen bed up front, courtesy of the extra floorspace.
Designed for the “all round adventurer”, both sharply-priced Tourer models are capable of some off-the-grid camping with 100Ah battery and 120W solar panel, two 4kg gas bottles, 95 litre water tank, and Al-Ko Enduro Cross Country Suspension and off-road coupling, fitted as standard.
Both also come well equipped with microwave, Bluetooth radio, digital TV and antenna, four-burner cooktop and grille, 186 litre three way fridge/freezer, wind-out awning, gas/electric hot water unit and rooftop air-conditioner.
Like most Avan and Golf vans, the new Tourer models use composite aluminium body panels on a galvanized chassis.
An optioned up Golf 577 Tourer with an ATM of 2400kg is currently advertised by the Golf Super Centre in Burpengary, Queensland for $59,990 drive-away, while another optioned up Golf Tourer 650 with an ATM of 2850kg from the same dealer is priced at $64,990 drive-away.
