New gear: Thule Approach

The latest range of stylish, lightweight and user-friendly rooftop tents from Swedish outdoor and vehicle accessories giant Thule is arriving down under soon.

Three models will be available in the new Thule Approach rooftop range -- the Approach S, Approach M and Approach L - ranging in weight from 50kg to 68kg and measuring (closed) from 110cm x 123cm to 124 x 184cm.

The tents come in three different exterior colours, while options will include a tent-compatible annex or awning.

Stand-out features include an outward-angled entrance that maximizes interior space, and a premium, dual-density mattress for added comfort.

They also come with built-in panoramic skylights and windows for increased ventilation, along with a removable rain cover that allows for star gazing in all weather conditions.

"The removable rain cover provides three modes of protection – heavy rain, rain protection that lets you see out of the windows and skylights, or ready-to-deploy mode, where the rain cover can easily be rolled out if it rains," Thule says.

The Approach roof tents also boast innovative mounting brackets that make it quicker to attach the tent to the vehicle, while the mounting hardware locks the tent to the vehicle roof racks for added security.

Thule says the tents take around three minutes to set up once you arrive at camp.

"Thoroughly tested for durability and longevity, Thule Approach is ready for your next trip, wherever you want to go," the company says.

The Thule Approach rooftop tents will be on display on the Roof Rack Superstore stand at the 2002 Sydney 4WD and Adventure Show, held at Sydney Dragway from September 9-11.

The new range is set to go on sale at selected Australian retailers in April 2023. Pricing has not been announced but more information is available on the Thule Australia website.
