RV electronics specialist Redarc has released its first portable, rechargeable lithium battery pack for off-road, marine and remote work applications.
Available with either a 50Ah or 100Ah lithium-ion battery, and doubling as a portable power source and flexible in-vehicle dual-battery system, Redarc says the new GoBlock portable powerpack features 'world first' technology that allows fast recharging in as little as two hours while driving.
The South Australian manufacturer says the GoBlock is a good option for charging smart devices, phones, cameras, drones, as well as powering lights, compressors, and fridges, which can be plugged in via USB, accessory, Merit, fridge and Anderson outputs.
The relatively compact unit measures 425mm x 196mm x 230mm and weighs from 15-19kg depending on battery size. The company says each lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery offers 2000 cycles, or four times more than some rival products.
As well as charging via DC input from the vehicle’s alternator while driving, or AC or solar while parked, Redarc says the unit can accept up to 50 Amps from any DC power source.
Other features include Bluetooth smart phone monitoring of battery status via the Redarc Redvision app, and a Start Battery Recovery (SBR) feature that enables safe recovery of a flat vehicle start battery.
Pricing for the Australian designed, tested and built GoBlock portable battery packs starts at $2395 for the 50Ah unit, with the 100Ah version priced at $2945, from the Redarc site.
“GoBlock is the culmination customer feedback and extensive market research relating to the constraints of existing 4WD dual battery systems," Redarc Managing Director Anthony Kittel said.
"This highly engineered product features the latest in Redarc's proprietary DC charging technology which takes the guess work out of designing and building your own battery system."
Also available for the GoBlock portable dual battery system is the PowerDock accessory, which provides a 50A fast charge from the vehicle or connected solar, as well as secure docking in your vehicle.
Priced at $495, the PowerDock accessory is easy to install and comes with a quick release handle so the GoBlock is recharged and ready to go when you get to your destination.
