After its introduction to the US market a few years ago, the innovative Laveo Dry Flush 'no smell' portable electric toilet is now available directly down under.
Described by the new Australian and New Zealand distributor as the "greatest portable toilet ever invented", the waterless, odourless portable electric toilet automatically wraps the waste after “flushing” before concealing it in a lined container under the seat.
"This incredible toilet works via a patented process that uses an electric motor, two fans, a proprietary mylar bagging system, and a healthy dose of physics and engineering," said Dry Flush Australia CEO Adam Hudson, who also started up Gold Coast-based retro van builder Goldy Caravans earlier this year.
"Concealed under the toilet seat is a bagging cartridge that contains a single mylar bag that is more than five metres long," he said.
"When the toilet is 'flushed', the toilet twists the bagging material from under the seat tightly around the waste, sealing in the smell, before pulling down a fresh section of the bag ready for its next use."
No additional plumbing, chemicals or water are required to use the toilet, and Dry Flush Australia says it will accept "almost anything" including feminine products.
Each cartridge holds an average of 15 flushes before it's removed and disposed, and installing a new cartridge takes around one minute.
The fully portable toilet weighs around 13kg and is powered by an 'ultra-longlife' rechargable battery that lasts up to three months between charges, or it can be plugged in to other power sources.
The Laveo Dry Flush portable electric toilet is available online for $2300, with a three-pack of Laveo refill cartridges priced at $199 and a bottle of Pee Powder (which extends the life of the cartridge) for $24.
