An external shower hose or tap mounted on a caravan or motorhome are commonly used to clean off the feet after a trip to the beach, or wash off the kids (or dog) after they've rolled in some mud!
But now there's another, water-saving way to keep the outside grime from spoiling the inside of your RV, with the launch of a new air-powered cleaning device for recreational vehicles, from NSW-based Gusto Global Industries.
Displayed on the Suncoast Caravan Service site at this year's Queensland Caravan Supershow, the new Australian-designed Gusto built-in air blower is described as the "world's first water-free, air powered cleaning device for your caravan, RV or camper trailer".
The Gusto is specifically designed to be fitted to the side of a caravan near the entry door, for example, so it can be used to brush and blow off dust, dirt, grass and sand off shoes and feet before entering, or off nearby camping equipment like chairs.
The handheld device activates for 30 seconds at a time by swiping over a sensor on the front of the unit, and because it uses compressed air, won't cut into your valuable on-board water storage when camping.
The relatively light and compact unit weighs 5.5kg and takes up an internal space of 280mm x 235mm x 215mm when fitted. It's powered by the vehicle's 12V battery so it doesn't need to be recharged like a portable unit.
The removable nylon brush head and quick-connect 2.5m long hose attach after opening the lockable compartment, with a supplied hanging hook to keep it out of the way when not in use.
Priced from $585 the Gusto is available in black or white, and custom-built units can be installed in a range of vehicles, including 4WDs and tow vehicles.
