New gear: EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max

EcoFlow packs even more energy into its portable 12/240V power bank

Portable appliance and power bank specialist EcoFLow has launched a new high-performance 170Ah lithium battery pack complete with fast solar charging for those who need portable power on the move.

The new EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max features a 2048Wh/170Ah battery and weighs 23kg – EcoFlow claims this is around 30 percent lighter than some rival power banks.

The EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max also incorporates fast charging, with a 2300-watt input using a household power point and a 100-watt input using solar panels. EcoFlow says you can use both a 240V socket and solar to recharge at the same time, or recharge the battery from empty to 80 percent in as little as 43 minutes.

This compares with 81 minutes for 240-volt recharging alone, or around 2 hours, 20 minutes using solar alone. You can even recharge it via a car’s 12-volt electrical socket.

The device is also said to be quiet, rated at 30dB while recharging, about the same level of volume as whispering.

According to EcoFlow, the DELTA 2 Max has a lifespan of 3000 complete recharging cycles before it reduces to 80 percent capacity, meaning it can reliably supply power or up to 10 years if recharged once a day.

The power bank is also fitted with a 2400-watt AC output (4800W surge) meaning it has enough grunt to power 99 percent of the 240-volt appliances that can plug into it, with an X-Boost mode able to increase output to 3100W.

Of note, EcoFlow has bundled in a connector that converts a round 12-volt plug to an Anderson plug, making the EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max compatible with a large number of 12-volt appliances used with Australian vehicles, caravans and boats.

The EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max is also expandable, with up to two optional plug-in battery packs providing up to 6144Wh/512Ah of stored energy.

The EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max is available from EcoFlow’s online store or several bricks-and-mortar retailers and priced from $2999, with extra batteries costing $2400. A bundle that adds a 400W portable solar panel to the power bank retails for $4198, a $300 saving over buying the items separately.
