New gear: Dometic compact tents

Innovative new inflatable tents are easily carried in the car or on your back

Dometic is targetting campers with smaller vehicles, with its latest three-model range of compact-sized, user-friendly inflatable tents now available in Australia.

The new lightweight Dometic tents are designed to fit into the back of a passenger car and include a Redux recycled material model and a small swag-style Pico tent which can be carried as a backpack.

All three new tent models also feature Dometic’s latest inflatable Air frame technology, for easier set up and pack up.

Dometic says its mainstream Santorini FTK ground tent is a technical cotton tent with fully mesh windows, and a sewn-in groundsheet with bug-proof doors and windows.

An inner tent is optional as it's possible to sleep anywhere in the tent with zip-close blinds on every window.

The Santorini tent also features an over-sized mesh ventilation panel at the back with a gusseted cover to allow constant air flow, even when raining.

Other features include tent-folding line indicators to make packing away easier, with lighting hanging points across central tubes, and an integrated front canopy for additional protection.

The new environmentally friendly Dometic Reunion FTG REDUX tent is made almost entirely from recycled PET bottles, and has a completely sewn-in groundsheet and bug-proof doors at the front and back for easier access.

The new Reunion tent can be used just as the inner on its own in hotter weather or with the flysheet attached for a waterproof skin.

The new Pico FTC is the smallest tent in the new Dometic tent range, and comes with fully mesh windows for plenty of ventilation, plus a completely sewn-in groundsheet with bug-proof doors and ventilation panels.

The Pico also features a built-in inflatable mattress to provide additional comfort.

It's available as a single- or double-person tent and features a backpack-style bag, enabling it to be carried easily for a short distance away from the car.

Dometic Santorini pricing in Australia starts at $1799

The door can be used as a small canopy using the adjustable poles provided, while an integrated mesh panel built into the doorway helps keep it bug-proof.

The Dometic Santorini FTK has a recommended retail price from $1799, while the Reunion FTG REDUX costs from $899 and the Pico FTC is priced from $799.
