Looking for an electric recovery winch for your 4x4 vehicle that looks as good as it performs?
Bushranger 4x4 could have the answer, with the off-road aftermarket accessories specialist releasing what it claims is the first Australian-designed 4x4 winch without an externally mounted control box.

Years in development, the new Bushranger 4x4 COVERT winch comes equipped with an “ultra-efficient all-in-one motor control unit paired with a finely tuned 5.3hp 12V motor”.
“Designed from the ground up utilising top-tier components and backed by a rigorous Australian testing protocol, the COVERT winch demonstrates proven reliability and longevity,” Bushranger 4x4 said in a media release.
“The compact, synergistic design provides the fast line speeds and rugged durability you
demand from a vehicle recovery winch and provides a more versatile, unobtrusive
COVERT fitment.”
Bushranger 4x4 says the COVERT’s built-in motor control unit delivers a “synergistic design (that) features a direct connection bespoke Albright contactor that creates greater motor efficiency and removes the need for a conventional control box”.

Other features and benefits include ‘proven’ Australian engineering and robust aluminium construction, a compact and IP66 water-resistant dual-connection remote, zero-drag braking system, and a four-stage gearbox. The new winch is also quick and easy to fit, according to Bushranger 4x4.
Four COVERT versions will be available, with the COVERT 10,000lb Synthetic Winch ($1595) now available from ARB stores, followed by the COVERT 10,000lb Wire Winch ($1395) in October. The COVERT 12,000lb Synthetic Winch and COVERT 12,000lb Wire Winch will be available in February 2024.
