A new four-occupant Fiat Ducato-based campervan that can sleep up to four people, has been released by NSW-based dealer Emu RV in conjunction with Melbourne manufacturer Nova Motorhomes.
Based on the ninth-generation Fiat Ducato XLWB platform, the new Emu RV Z4S XLWB model offers a twin-bed, four-berth arrangement with seats for four occupants when travelling.
While Emu RV and Nova introduced a four-seat, two-berth motorhome last year, spokesman Martin Doherty said that the additional two berths afforded by the inclusion of the pop-top sleeping area, is a more attractive proposition for buyers. The ‘Z’ designation, meaning a pop-top model, will soon be available across the range.
The 3200kg Tare, 4250kg GVM Z4S camper measures 6.36m long, 2.5m wide and 2.7m high, and is powered by the evergreen 2.2-litre Multijet 180 turbo-diesel with 134kW/450Nm outputs that drives the front wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the Z4S XLWB offers 1730mm wide by 1820mm long east-west rear double bed, as well as an upper north-south bed housed in the pop-top (reached by a removable concertina aluminium ladder) that measures 2080mm by 1345mm.
The upper bed is light, weighing less than 100kg, thanks to a compact Froli Systems bed springs/base, and there's also a skylight and some LED downlights. With the Captain’s chairs up front swivelled to face a removable table and the rear pair of seats, you have a ready-made dining table.
The internal kitchen comes equipped with a three-burner stove, 175-litre 12v compressor fridge and freezer, and a microwave. Fresh water capacity (155L) feeds the taps and shower, plus there’s a 55-litre grey water tank.
Electrics are covered off with a 150Ah lithium battery and 175watts of rooftop solar, and there are 12v LED lights throughout, including LED-strip mood lights. There's also a floor-mounted air-conditioner, located under the bunks as that was the only viable place to fit the unit in a pop-top.
A combined shower/sink/toilet cubicle with a ceramic cassette toilet covers off the ablutions.
Outside, you get a power-fold step on the nearside sliding door, an extending table, two coach lights and an awning.
There's also a combination hot water and ducted gas/electric space heater that includes an outlet in the shower/toilet cubicle, and is fed by two 4.5kg gas cylinders.
With a retail outlet based in Cranebrook NSW, the new Z4S XLWB model like other Emu campers is fitted out in Melbourne by Nova Caravans. The drive-away (NSW) price is $181,990.
The Emu RV & Nova Motorhomes brand first arrived on the market in 2020 with the Fiat Ducato-based E2S motorhome. The new Z4S variant adds to the current Emu RV range comprising E2S LWB, E2S XLWB, E4S XLWB (and soon to be released three-seater, three-berth E3S), all based on the Fiat Ducato platform.
