Jurgens is introducing another family-friendly option to its range of lightweight pop-top and full-height touring caravans.
In contrast to the bigger and heavier, full height 23ft Narooma bunk bed van
, the new family bunk model based on the Jindabyne pop-top
should appeal to family buyers with smaller tow vehicles as well as those with less storage space at home.
While final specifications have not been released, Jurgens says production versions of the 16ft 2in (internal length) pop-top will have a Tare weight “comfortably under 1500kg”.
The new layout features a north-south island double bed, small kitchen with 93 litre fridge, sink, microwave and cooktop, two-person dinette and two, adult-length bunk beds with a lower bed that converts to another two-person dinette.
Other standard features should include a 60 litre water tank, 2 x 4.5kg gas bottles, under-bed air-conditioner, LED lighting and roll-out awning.
Pricing for the new Jindabyne PT2270 will start around $39,000 and although there’s no internal shower or toilet, a hot water service and external shower will be available as options.
The new bunk bed layout is expected to be better suited to family needs, compared to the existing four-berth Jindabyne layout that features a front dinette that converts to a second double bed.
Like other Jurgens’ models, construction will comprise composite sandwich panels, a bolted, galvanised chassis and Al-Ko independent suspension. Production for the new model will begin early-2017 at Jurgen’s Pakenham, Victoria factory.
