Queensland off-road motorhome specialist Explorer has pulled the wraps of another premium Ford Ranger ute-based off-road campervan model at the 2024 Queensland Caravan Supershow.
The new Explorer Nomad off-road motorhome is based on one of Australia's most popular vehicles, the Ford Ranger, with the display vehicle boasting an upgraded 4250kg GVM among other off-road enhancements including an ARB bull bar with Stedi spotlights, LED bar and UHF aerial, twin extendable mirrors, a snorkel and black alloy wheels with mud tyres.
Finished off inside with bespoke cabinetry, high-quality benchtops and on-trend matte green furniture fascias, the main living area of the show vehicle featured a club lounge style corner dinette with adjustable table, and a 2.5m long benchspace with stainless sink and filtered water, induction cooktop, microwave and a 200L Isotherm side-by-side fridge/freezer.
There's cubby hole access from the driver's cabin to the rear living area, with the fixed north-south queen bed located in the over-cab section, plus a separate shower and toilet, dual slide-out pantries and 'panoramic' windows among other interior highlights.
Other appliances fitted included a Truma Combi D6 diesel water and space heater, and an outside BBQ that runs off a 4kg gas bottle.
While off-grid power is taken care of with a 500Ah lithium battery system with an Enerdrive 2600W inverter and 520W rooftop solar, along with 192 litre fresh water capacity and a 55L grey water tank.
The Nomad is the sixth model offered by the Clontarf, Queensland-based off-road motorhome manufacturer, which includes both 4WD and 6WD variants.
The show vehicle was priced at $269,000, and full details on the new Nomad off-road camper are expected to be available on the Explorer Motorhomes website soon.
