Continuing the off-road caravan industry’s never-ending war on dust, Sunshine Coast-based Rhinomax has incorporated a new in-house designed and manufactured entry door which is claimed to achieve a 100 per cent seal due to its submarine-like hatch design.
The perfect seal has been achieved by running a high quality rubber seal around the full perimeter of the door on the inside of the hinges so that it remains unbroken and has no weak points.
This is then held securely in place with top and bottom vice-action locks that actively pull it in to maintain the compressive force on the seal.
With most of its hybrids now running lithium power systems and induction, rather than gas cooktops, the new door is now fitted as standard on all current Rhinomax campers, from the entry-level 10ft micro-hybrid Scorpion to the range-topping 18ft 6in Lost Trak Hybrid Tourer and Iveco truck-based Explorer, with no increase in prices.
The new dust-buster door also incorporates a sliding window upper section with both an insect screen and a block-out blind.
The Queensland off-road hybrid specialist has also expanded its range with two new full-height 16ft versions of its full-height Lost Trak caravan – a couples and a family model, priced from $129,990.
Designed for extended touring for an adventurous couple, the new couples model comes fully equipped with an internal induction cook-top, sink and a fridge freezer, while in the family model, twin bunks replace the internal kitchen on the rear wall, with outside cooking only.
Both models have internal ensuites with a shower and a Natures Head composting toilet as standard, a comfortable seating arrangement, plenty of storage compartments and a full-innerspring queen mattress.
Outside, both boast additional storage room, a stainless steel fold-out kitchen, an external fridge/freezer and an external shower. A front toolbox area includes pole storage, a cargo basket and storage for fuel or water and twin gas bottles.
The new models are both a bush track-friendly 2100mm wide and come standard with single axle Cruisemaster all-terrain suspension with twin shocks per wheel, 210 litres of freshwater capacity and an additional 85-litre grey water tank.
A 225AH lithium battery pack, a 2200 watt inverter and 340 Watts of rooftop-mounted solar panels are all standard, while Cruisemaster air suspension and disk brakes are both options.
