The plans come in light of recent park closures in Mackay that include Bucasia Beach, Seawinds and Orange Grove.
The park will service the demands of the high-end van-park holiday tourists, and will include at least 64 tourist sites, 85 permanent sites, 19 cabins and 15 villas. There will be camp kitchens, an entertainment building, and other top-class facilities, and permanent residents will enjoy separate access and amenities as well.
Project manager Nigel Telford said each van site would cover 130sqm. The area will be surrounded by bird habitats, a cafe, two pools and two lakes. The site is open for inspection, and is accessible off the Bruce Highway, with the park set for completion late 2008.
The park will adjoin a championship golf course, designed by the Scott Golf Design Group, and named after well known golfer Adam Scott. The course forms part of the nearby Whitsunday Shores development, an Aspen Group project, which also includes beachfront developments, homes, as well as dams and lakes.
