David Duncan has taken on a newly created position of CEO to head the team at the Recreational Vehicle Manufacturers Association of Australia (RVMAA) Melbourne headquarters.
Coromal Caravans chief and RVMAA President Richard Raven said the appointment of a CEO was a vital step towards increasing RVMAA’s influence and effectiveness within the broader industry.
“David has an impressive record of developing and strengthening not-for-profit organisations,” he said. “His early priorities include enhancing our recognition as the national voice for RV manufacturing in Australia.
“David will work with State Associations and the Caravan, RV & Accommodation Industry of Australia (CRVA) to develop jointly-funded initiatives and will develop sponsorships and tap into government funding to secure our financial future.
“His appointment is a vital investment in our ability to achieve what the industry needs of us: a decisive voice in everything from local legislation to international trade.”
Duncan has served in senior executive roles in numerous not-for-profit organisations including the Facility Management Association of Australia, the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists, the Property Council of Australia and the Housing Industry Association of Australia.
Qualified in business administration and urban and regional planning, and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he has established numerous successful initiatives including industry education and accreditation programs.
One of Duncan’s first tasks as CEO will be to announce next week the RV production figures for 2011. Each year the RVMAA releases annual production figures for Australian-built RVs, based on data supplied by its members.
Indications suggest it was another period of growth for the industry, with 2011 figures expected to be three percent higher than in 2010, which recorded more than 21,000 units.
