The Port Willunga Tourist Park in South Australia is the first BIG4-affiliated park to offer dog-friendly cabins which allow travellers' four-legged friends indoors.
Situated on the Fleurieu Peninsula close to the famous McLaren Vale wine region, the Port Willunga Park is one of four pet-friendly parks to have recently joined Australia's second biggest holiday group chain.
Last year BIG4 reversed its
long-standing anti-pets policy, giving all of its 170-odd member parks the option to accept dogs (at the manager's discretion).
After a slow start, 36 BIG4 holiday parks are now designated dog-friendly, with Port Willunga one of just two pooch-friendly BIG4 parks in South Australia.
Other new BIG4 parks that also welcome furry friends include Goondiwindi Tourist Park and Mackay Marine Tourist Park in Queensland, and Forster-Tuncurry Great Lakes Holiday Park in NSW.
Another recent addition to the BIG4 family, Caloundra Waterfront Holiday Park in Queensland, does not accept pets.
The standard dog-friendly cabins are amongst a range of accomodation options at the BIG4 Port Willunga Holiday Park, which range from unpowered campsites to executive spa units.
While fairly basic, the dog-friendly cabins sleep up to four people and are self-contained including cooking and bathroom facilities. The current nightly rate of $95 includes in-cabin air-conditioning as well as access to wireless internet.
The four-star rated Port Willunga Park is only a 10 minute drive from the popular McLaren Vale vineyards, and also close to excellent walking tracks, picturesque beaches and seaview restaurants.
