A new version of Bailey’s lightest, entry-level caravan should be available in Australia by early-2014.
Just released in the UK, the Bailey Pursuit replaces the UK manufacturer’s previous Orion and Olympus entry-level line-ups, and is said to combine the best of those models as well as a few new features.
As well as a striking white/grey colour scheme and curvaceous design, also distinguishing the new Pursuit from other Bailey models are bold new exterior graphics and a new, opening sun roof borrowed from Bailey’s motorhome range.
“It’s a smaller sun roof than you get in our Pegasus GT65 or Unicorn range, but it does open, and the other advantage is its high position... so you get a full-width locker across the front of the caravan which you wouldn’t be able to do with the vertical panoramic sun roof we fit in our other caravan ranges,” said Bailey UK’s Simon Howard.
Like the outgoing Orion 430/4, the 17ft Pursuit caravan combines lightweight Alu-Tech construction (around 1170kg Tare and 1470kg ATM) with a family-friendly four berth layout incorporating a fixed double bed, fully-equipped kitchen, ensuite, and lounge/dinette.
Like other Bailey caravans sold in Australia, the Pursuit will be beefed up to suit local conditions, incorporating air-conditioning, 130 litre water tanks, upgraded axles (for a 300kg payload), Aussie awning, and 15inch wheels.
Inside, there's the familiar Bailey Walnut finish albeit with new cabinetry incorporating dual-finish locker doors, high gloss worktops and polished chrome fittings, and contemporary new ‘Spice’ soft furnishings.
Australian-delivered Pursuits are expected to be priced around the low-$50,000 mark but will come with a comprehensive list of standard features including the latest Truma Combi air/water heater with new digital control panel.
Bailey Australia boss Adrian van Geelen said with around 10 customer orders already, he expected the Pursuit 430/4 to build on the success of the “existing Orion 430/4 which has been a very good seller for us due to the light Tare weight”.
