New badge for compliant caravans

New ‘seal of approval’ logo for Aussie-built RVs that comply with strict audit process

Australian RV manufacturers that comply with the strict new RVMAP audit program will display a new ‘badge of approval’ on their caravans, campers or motorhomes from next month.

The Caravan Industry Association of Australia (CIAA) has replaced the old ‘RVM Australia Accredited’ badge with a new three-dimensional ‘RVMAP Accreditation Key’ following the recent merger of RVM Australia with the Caravan, RV & Accommodation Industry of Australia (CRVA) to form a new national body.

CIAA CEO Stuart Lamont said the “visually dynamic” new logo will provide consumers with peace of mind and security when purchasing a new RV product.

“The Australian Design Rules for the construction of RVs for Australian conditions are some of the toughest in the world, and it’s important that products being supplied to the market meet these standards,” Lamont said.

“With deregulation of the Government’s agenda, it is important that consumers purchasing products in our industry are not supplied with products that are not fit for their intended purpose, and that are able to stand up to the rigours of the Australian landscape.”

Around 80 manufacturer members of the CIAA, predominantly caravan builders based in Victoria, are expected to display the new RVMAP badge on their new products from November 1.

“It is important that consumers have an easily recognisable symbol giving them the confidence to be sure of their next RV purchase. The RVMAP Accreditation Key will provide it,” he said.

The new logo will also be used for the CIAA-run caravan holiday park accreditation program, and Lamont said there are plans to introduce it to other sectors of the industry over the next 12 months “so that caravanning consumers can feel comfortable that they are dealing with reputable product and businesses which have been assessed through the industry-led accreditation program”.

“We will continue to work closely with state associations to ensure that industry standards continue to improve, and consumer interests are best protected,” he said.
