New Avida Silverton lands in Sydney

60-year old Sydney manufacturer rolls out new 7.0m long Fiat-based, slide-out motorhome

Avida showed off its new Silverton motorhome at the Sydney Superhow in Rosehill this week, with the nameplate returning to the brand after a three-year break.

Previously offered on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis between 2020 and 2022, the latest Silverton is based on a Fiat Ducato chassis and offers a smaller, compact alternative to the Avida Birdsville.

The 10th model line now offered by Avida, and latest in a number of 60th Anniversary releases, the Silverton is priced from $195,990 (drive-away, in two-berth B-Class configuration), or $201,990 (as a four-berth C-class).

The Fiat Ducato-based Silverton measures 6885mm long, 3220mm wide and 2400mm high, and boasts a 2100kg towing capacity.

The four-seater motorhome includes a rear bathroom with separate shower, a slide-out east-west queen bed, 240v air conditioning, a 120Ah lithium battery with 420watts solar, 120 litres fresh water and 120 litre grey water tanks, and a kitchenette with a four-burner cooktop, stainless steel sink and mixer tap, microwave and a large Thetford fridge-freezer.

The Fiat-based Silverton also gets Avida's latest new-design cabinetry and outside BBQ storage.

Meanwhile, Avida is planning a return to caravan production in 2026, with Avida’s Sales and Marketing Manager Billy Falconer confirming that... “Early next year the caravans are coming. We start design work later this year, and will offer a range of caravans next year.”

Avida began building caravans again after a long break when it introduced the Sapphire in 2013, followed by the Wave Pop-Top in 2017. In 2018 the company unveiled its third hardtop caravan model, the Rock but not long after stopped production of its slow-selling caravan range at its Penrith, NSW base, to focus on campervans and motorhomes.
