Sydney RV manufacturer Avida used its hometown show, the NSW Caravan, Camping and Holiday Supershow, to unveil a trio of improved motorhomes and new caravans.
First up was the heavily revised Iveco-based. 7m long Ceduna motorhome, which has had its layout significantly worked over.
Changes include straight rather than curved cupboards, a fold-down bench at the entry door and a pull-out bench from the cupboard to the left of the entry door, to provide a ‘wrap-around’ kitchen.
The Ceduna's TV has been moved to the back with two slide-out pantries, and the bathroom extended to include two overhead cupboards. A large wardrobe at the nearside front of the layout is new as well.
The sink and cooktop have been swapped over, with the cooktop now positioned close to the layout entrance, so the glass protection at the lounge will no longer be necessary (although it was still on the prototype displayed at the show).
The electric drop-down bed has also been modified so that it's now not necessary to remove all the cushions to lower the bed; only the two corner pieces need to be removed.
Pricing has yet to be announced for the MY19 Ceduna refresh.
Meanwhile, the MY19 wheelchair-friendly Esperance has been updated with the latest contemporary cupboard and interior finish, handle-free overhead cupboards, and soft-close drawers. There's also extra shelving and cupboard space around the bed while the bed lowering mechanism appears ‘sleeker’ with push buttons in place of latches.
The Esperance's bathroom no longer has exposed plumbing, while in the living area the microwave and control panels are lower and more easily accessible for those in a wheel chair. A range of interior colours is now available, unlike before.
Priced from $206,565 drive-away, the display model was optioned up with leather seating, solar panel, arm rests, an electric awning and tri-fold table to push it out to $211,285 drive-away.
Avida also previewed a new tandem axle two berth Rock caravan at the show, to join the family version released last year.
The 21ft Rock (CV6534 QB) display caravan had a front north-south bed layout, and boasted a 2708kg Tare and 592kg payload.
The two-berth Rock comes with the same equipment as the family model, including two 125-litre fresh water tanks, one 125-litre grey water tank, two 120Ah batteries (with 300W solar panels and regulator), two-door compressor fridge, washing machine, electronic control panel, water filter, front toolbox and Cruisemaster independent suspension.
The Rock two-berth is priced from $86,490 tow-away, although the display model, optioned with frosty silver fibreglass finish, leather upholstery, stainless-steel stove, oven and grill combination, tri-fold dinette table and wireless battery management, was advertised at $88,990 tow away.
