In a collaboration between new motorhome brand Emu RV and Nova, a new Fiat Ducato-based premium campervan has gone on sale.
Converted to a motorhome by well-known Australian caravan manufacturer Nova in Melbourne and retailed exclusively through western Sydney Castlereagh outlet Emu RV, the two-seat, two-berth Emu RV E2S is priced at $129,990 drive-away as an introductory offer.
Although COVID-19 backlogs have hit the RV market generally, Emu RV’s Martin Doherty says that wait times are relatively short for the new motorhome at the moment.
Emu RV offers a few layout variations on the two-berth E2S motorhome and buyers can customise finishes. Emu RV will also be offering a E4S four-seater on a Ducato XLWB base, and 4WD versions on the Mercedes Sprinter and Iveco chassis can be built to order now.
The Emu RV E2S is based on the latest ‘Series 7’ Fiat Ducato, with its new 2.3-litre, 130kW/450Nm turbo-diesel Multijet engine; now 6D Euro emissions compliant.
The big news with the new Ducato is not so much the engine (which is up 50Nm in auto form) but the new nine-speed torque-converter automatic, sourced from ZF. This transmission replaces the often-criticised six-speed single-clutch automated manual in the previous Ducato.
The new Ducato also enjoys new safety features such as AEB and forward collision alert.
Key features of the Emu RV camper include a 175 litre 240v/12v compressor fridge/freezer (the largest fridge in its size category by 39L), internal shower/toilet, standard gas heating in main cabin and bathroom, 120watt solar, Remis blinds and Dometic Ibis 4 air-conditioning.
Other features include Dometic windows with screens and blinds, interior lining with roof insulation, two roof hatches, three burner gas stove with glass lid, microwave oven, an Intelli RV 300 Bluetooth control display panel for battery, water, etc, and an Intelli 300 BT battery control module with automatic 30amp battery charger (lithium compatible) and 105amp AGM auxilliary battery.
A Truma Combi 4 gas hot water system, stainless steel tank, 120-litre fresh water tank (and 50 litre grey tank), 300 watt inverter, twin 4kg gas bottles with change-over switch, removable table, and a Thule Electric awning with strip lighting are also part of the package.
The Emu E2S also gets a big 28in Smart TV with swing bracket, Antenatek TV antenna and a Thule Electric step at the side door with strip lighting.
The Fiat Ducato base is covered by a five year warranty along with three years roadside assist, while the Emu RV is also backed by Nova's three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
