New Age promotes perfect sleep

Caravan-friendly adjustable mattress promises a perfect night's sleep, at a price
Getting a good night’s rest is just as important in a caravan as it is at home.
It’s for this reason that most caravans these days are fitted with coil spring mattresses, often with pillow tops to take off any hard edges, while some manufacturers like Coromal are now turning to the latest ‘memory foam’ bases.
However, apart from the odd, pricey motorhome it’s rare to see power-adjustable beds that can be raised and lowered to support various parts of your body at the push of a remote, in an Aussie RV.
But that could be all about to change with Melbourne’s New Age Caravans getting behind the latest RV-friendly, adjustable mattress supplier at this year’s Brisbane Caravan Supershow.
As well as a ‘test station’ set up at the New Age stand, Gold Coast-based Adjusta Mattress had one of their adjustable queen bed mattresses fitted inside a range-topping, New Age 24ft Blue Diamond slide-out model on display at the show.
While there are other options on the market, Adjusta Mattress claims to offer a unique solution to the RV industry with the only caravan-size (150 x 191cm) dual queen mattress available, priced at $4400.
For that you get a thick memory foam mattress covered in organic cotton, with German-made internal motors that allow almost extreme levels of adjustment, from flat to almost sit-up position and raised foot rest.
The double mattress is actually two singles joined together, so one person can be sitting up in bed while the other rests (perfect in the $100,000-plus 24ft Blue Diamond, which has an east-west, slide-out bed directly facing a pop-up 24in TV).
Like a normal mattress it slots on top of the standard bed base in the caravan, plugging into 240V sockets on each side (with battery back-up).
Other features include remote control operation, vibration/massage zones (including an auto timer), a pre-set ‘memory’ function and the ability to find the ‘Zero gravity’ position for optimal spinal positioning.
Adjusta Mattress was also advertising at the show a standard single mattress for $3000, with the standard dual queen costing $4700 and standard dual king costing $5000.
Adjusta Mattress is specifically targeting caravanners who suffer from body pain and other ailments that result in restless sleep, and having briefly tried the mattress at the show we can say their claim of “blending luxurious comfort with the ultimate support to help achieve the perfect sleep” may not be too far off the mark…
