The coronavirus pandemic has seen employee and consumer hygiene practices come to the fore, from social distancing in workplaces to contactless transactions and deliveries..
But now Melbourne-based New Age Caravans has taken it to the next level, giving every caravan that rolls out of its factories a 'deep clean' with an all-natural, hospital grade disinfectant and sanitiser.
In what is believed to be an industry-first, New Age introduced the Nanocyn treatment at its Melbourne production facilities on July 24, fumigating the inside of New Age caravans, pop-tops and camper trailers with the virus killing spray.
"The natural, TGA registered, hospital grade disinfectant has been proven in the aviation industry and now we're using it to keep you safe when you set off on your first trip in your new New Age caravan," New Age said in an online statement.
The popular Melbourne manufacturer said that "Nanocyn is the most tested and approved 100% natural disinfectant in the world, killing viruses and bacteria in 30 seconds, including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and Norovirus (Gastro)".
"The fumigation leaves no film, requires no wiping, is safe to use on delicate fabrics/vinyls/leather/rubber/plastics/wood and leaves no scent."
The caravan 'deep clean' is one of a number of COVID-19 safety practices rolled out at the New Age headquarters in recent months, which include social distancing measures like a maximum two workers inside a van at any one time, and minimum 1.5m distance between workers.
Compulsory face masks, separate lunch breaks and minimal movement of staff between the two New Age factory buildings, are other practices designed to reduce the chance of an outbreak.
Like many caravan retailers, New Age dealers have also introduced social distancing measures including one-on-one appointments, video calls and home deliveries, along with regular cleaning and disinfecting of display vans, particularly after customer inspections.
