New Age caravans recalled

More than 100 Melbourne-built caravans with off-road suspension recalled over safety fears

Melbourne's New Age has recalled 134 caravans after it was discovered the shock absorber bracket may detach from the chassis frame when towing, potentially leading to an accident.

The New Age caravans at risk are 2019 and 2020 year models sold nationally between November 1 2019 and August 1 2020, and fitted with Cruisemaster XT suspension.

"If the shock absorber bracket fails while the caravan is in motion, there is a risk of loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of an accident causing or injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users," the safety recall notice published on the Federal Government’s Product Safety website said.

Affected consumers are advised to contact their nearest New Age Caravan dealer for inspection and repair, free of charge.
