Cub Campers is set to unveil a new range-topping Drifter II hard-floor family camper model at the Newcastle Caravan and Camping Show in NSW on February 7-9.
The Sydney manufacturer says the six-berth Drifter II will be the only fully Australian-built ‘double fold’ tent camper on the market. It will also be Cub Campers’ most expensive model, with an RRP of $49,990 eclipsing the $47,900 asking price of the special edition Longreach released in early 2019.
While full details and specifications are yet to be announced, Cub Campers says the new off-road equipped Drifter II will be able to sleep up to six people with a main front bed featuring a 1960mm x 1500mm pocket spring mattress and rear bed with 1660mm x 1370mm foam mattress, and a central dining area that converts to another bed.
Cooking is outside on a pull-out kitchen that that includes a fold-out shelf, SMEV three burner gas cooker, stainless steel sink and LED lighting. Storage options on the Drifter II will include an “extra-long” 1400mm pantry drawer and front luggage rack, plus an underslung 100 litre capacity tank for storing water.
Like other Cub Campers, the Drifter II will be built at Cub’s Sydney factory using quality materials such as Australian Bluescope Steel and Wax Converters canvas along with many in-house components including the brand’s own coil independent suspension.
“Cub Campers is proud of our reputation for delivering great products where customers can focus on their holiday knowing that their camper trailer is high quality, reliable and durable, and the new Drifter II will continue that Cub Campers tradition,” the long-standing manufacturer said in a statement.
Cub Campers has been building a range of hard-floor campers since 1968 and the Drifter name was previously used on a six-berth Cub model sold from the 1970s to the late 1990s.
