Queensland's Zone RV has provided a sneak peek of its all-new 16ft Expedition in action, ahead of the expected official release of the tough new tandem axle off-grid pop-top caravan in early-2023.
An online teaser video shows the Zone Expedition hybrid caravan prototype being tow-tested by a Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series wagon in an off-road location, along with it being set up at camp.
The action-packed footage only shows the exterior of the prototype, including its glossy full composite body and six rooftop solar panels. Other features shown include the powered pop-roof and a large external recessed kitchen with a sink and tap and plug-in induction cooktop.
Zone says the new Expedition pop-top will be its "most adventurous model yet" and will come equipped with full off-grid capabilities including "large solar generation, lithium battery bank, water storage and induction cooking".
Zone RV is currently calling for expressions of interest from potential buyers wanting to snag one of the first production slots in 2023.
Internally, the new Expedition will get a queen bed, shower and composting toilet, while external storage options extend to a large integrated front locker and a rear 'dust-free' boot that also holds the two spare wheels.
Zone RV first used the Expedition model name a few years ago on a range of compact hard-walled camper trailers retailing from under $50,000; however the latest range of higher-specced Expedition pop-top caravans are expected to boast mid-to-high six figure price tags depending on the amount of options fitted.
The new Expedition vans will be built at Zone's Coolum Beach factory alongside Zone's two other full composite models; the 19ft Peregrine and 21ft Sojourn full-size caravans.
More details including pricing, equipment and specifications are expected to be released in coming weeks before the new model officially goes on sale in the new year.
