Narrow escape for runaway motorhome

Failed handbrake results in near miss for motorhome owner in NSW

Apart from a roll-over, it's every RV traveller’s worst nightmare..

Despite your best efforts, the caravan or motorhome manages to roll away from its parked or camping position, ending up crashed, damaged, or worse.

That’s what recently happened to the unfortunate male owner of a motorhome, that was parked in the carpark near Kiama Lighthouse in NSW.

According to the report by 9 News Illawarra, the motorhome’s handbrake “suddenly failed”, causing the motorhome to roll down towards the ocean.

The owner “managed to escape… after it rolled down the hill”, with the motorhome stopping just metres from the water, perched on rocks.

According to onlookers, the owner then proceeded to climb inside the wayward vehicle and rescue his pet dog trapped inside.

A tow truck took two hours to retrieve the motorhome after it was wedged on the rocks.

According to 9 News, both owner and dog “escaped with only a few scratches” and the owner, undeterred, vowed to be “back on the road shortly”.
