Albury, NSW’s Mountain Trail Campers has introduced a smaller, lighter and cheaper, pop-top version of its latest full composite, full off-road hybrid caravan.
While costing a lot less the smaller 12ft pop-top has fewer standard features than the LXV, which comes with a diesel hot water service with shower and heater, Fusion multi-media system, roof-top solar panels and additional 85 litre water tank – all options on the CXV.
The pop-top roof is a $3995 option on both models, as is an air-conditioner, lithium battery upgrade, and 18in alloy wheels.
Like its bigger brother, the new CXV off-road hybrid uses slick German fibreglass composite panels with similarly clean-cut interior, gas vented A-frame storage box, galvanized chassis, 12in brakes and independent coil and trailing arm suspension.
Inside, the queen size bed is located in a similar position to Mountain Trail’s EDX hard-floor camper, with room at the front for a four-person lounge/dinette that converts to another bed. There are also four, stainless steel slide-out clothing drawers under the bed. The CXV hybrid also comes standard with an electric awning, double-glazed windows, slide-out stainless steel kitchen and 95L Waeco fridge, two 105Ah AGM batteries with 30amp Redarc management system, two Sirocco fans, 125L water tank and internal and external LED lighting.
But while it misses out on the internal shower/toilet fitted to the bigger LXV, for an additional $3725 CXV buyers can opt for a rear ensuite canvas pod with hard-floor shower base and portable toilet.
Both Mountain Trail hybrids are 2.0m wide but at 2.42m high overall, the pop-top rides 43cm lower than the full-height model. The CXV’s ATM is 2480kg, delivering a 820kg payload.
