Two low-volume Melbourne caravan builders have hit troubled times this week, with Diamond Caravans going into liquidation and Billabong Caravans placed in administration.
According to an online notice, company members of Diamond Caravans met two days ago and decided to wind up the company, with Shane Leslie Deane and Nicholas Giasoumi appointed as liquidators.
The main website and Facebook pages for Diamond Caravans have been pulled down and office phones disconnected.
It’s believed the family-owned manufacturer was in business for around 10 years. Action to wind-up Diamond Caravans was also taken in late-2017, by the company behind G&S Chassis.
Meanwhile, administrators Barry Wight and Bruno A Secatore were appointed this week for Sydney rd, Campbellfield-based Billabong Custom Caravans. A creditors meeting is set for October 31 at the offices of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in Melbourne's CBD.
Billabong builds “quality, handmade, custom caravans” according to its website, and it's believed the 12-year old manufacturer was recently advertising for workers.
There were five Billabong dealers listed, although administrators have also been appointed for Queensland-based outlet Coastal Caravans.
